After Eric Dickerson became a two-time All-American at Southern Methodist, the Los Angeles Rams selected the running back in the first round of the 1983 NFL Draft. He ran for a NFL rookie record 1,808 yards in his first year as a pro. A season later, his 2,105 yards rushing set a single-season record that still stands. A six-time Pro Bowl selection, Dickerson was All-Pro in 1983, 1984, 1986, 1987 and 1988. While with the Rams, he started the Dickerson Rangers Program with the Rams in partnership with the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks aiming to keep the youth of LA off of drugs and out of the streets. After a trade, Dickerson's 1,659 yards rushing made him the first Colt to lead the league in rushing since Alan Ameche in 1955. Dickerson is now a member of both the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame.
